Investigation of the Effects of Metal Nanoparticles Priming on Germination Indices of Tanacetum parthenium L. (Feverfew)

چکیده
The application of seed nanopriming improves the growth and development of medicinal plants and increases productivity and better quality of metabolites. This study aimed to investigate the effect of different concentrations of iron oxide and titanium dioxide nanoparticles on germination characteristics of Feverfew in a complete randomized design with 4 replications. The treatments consisted of four concentrations of each of the nanoparticles of iron oxide and titanium dioxide (control, 1/1000, 1.5/1000, and 2/1000). The results showed that Feverfew seed priming with nano-iron oxide had a significant effect on radicle length, germination rate, epicotyl length, and vigor index, but did not have a significant effect on germination percentage and mean germination time. Priming with nano-titanium dioxide also showed that it had a significant effect on radicle length, germination rate, and vigor index and did not show a significant effect on other traits. The concentration of 2/1000 of nano-iron oxide reduced the epicotyl length compared to the control by 15.6% and increased the radicle length, vigor index, and germination rate compared to the control by 64.9, 18.4, and 27.7%, respectively. Furthermore, the concentration of 1.5/1000of nano-titanium dioxide increased the shoot length and vigor index compared to the control by 48.9 and 19.8%, respectively, and its concentration of 2/1000 increased the germination rate compared to the control by 39.03%.کليدواژه ها
